Beth Yoder Beth Yoder is a Managing Partner with Global Teams and is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She has been facilitating intercultural learning and development for individuals and organizations for almost 20 years. She brings the mind of a researcher, the heart of a teacher, and the enthusiasm of a pioneer to her work. This passion, which has become her career, began when she moved from the USA to Romania to teach English in a state high school. Things were done differently there and she learned them the hard way — by experience. But as is her nature, she turned this challenge into advantage by teaching the new teachers what she had learned. This sped up their learning and enabled them to focus on their main purpose — teaching students. The result was that their transition was easier and their teaching success greater. That turned out to be the beginning of a new career. Since then, she has lived and worked extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East facilitating training and designing learning for adults — from college students to C-level executives. She specializes in intercultural training, developing global leaders, and applying an intercultural perspective to talent development. A few of her clients have included Siemens, Al-Futtaim, Kuwait Oil Company, Tempurpedic, Abu Dhabi Education Council, and World Vision. In her training, participants are engaged through a variety of activities, from simulations to discussions; there are times to pause and reflect, and expert content is presented in appropriate amounts for the participants. She uses photography and videos to bring the experience home. She always creates and adapts training so that it is effective and appropriate in the given cultural contexts. For the last eight years, she has been successfully delivering workshops and coaching in learning design. Beth has a Master’s degree in Intercultural Relations from University of the Pacific, one of the premier institutions in the field. As a lifelong learner, she is an active member of ATD and SIETAR, and a returning fellow at the Intercultural Communication Institute. |
