Develop virtual fluency to lead virtual teams and manage remote workers

Why Attend?

Today’s digital workplace has changed the way leaders and managers need to lead and manage their dispersed workforces. No longer are teams co-located in the same office or building. Having to lead and manage this dispersed workforce needs us to do so over distance, time zones, cultures and using various digital and virtual technologies to achieve results.

As a business leader and manager, you need to develop virtual fluency — the ability to connect, communicate and collaborate virtually with virtual teams and remote employees. You can no longer rely on the core skills that co-located teams require – virtual teams and remote employees require a different approach, clarity and engagement if they are to perform well.

Benefits Of Attending

  • Develop virtual fluency to lead virtual teams and manage remote workers
  • Learn how to effectively connect, communicate and collaborate in a digital workplace
  • Create and engage high performing virtual teams
  • Identify the roles, agreements and platforms needed to support virtual teams and remote staff
  • Overcome the challenges of leading and managing virtually

Learning Objectives

The Virtual Fluency Competency Model focuses on the three core areas of virtual teams and remote working:

  1. People — Leaders and managers must ensure that their people remain engaged despite virtual distances, ensure that they have the right virtual skills to execute their roles successfully, and motivate them to achieve the business results required
  2. Platforms — Leaders and managers need to ensure that their people not only have access to the best supporting technologies to support virtual working, but that they also have developed virtual competencies to leverage the new working environment
  3. Performance — Leaders and managers still require their virtual teams and remote workers to achieve business results at a distance and often with minimal physical meetings, so the virtual leader needs to ensure that they can: (1) lead and manage their people to achieve that performance by mastering the platforms; (2) motivate and engage people virtually; and (3) virtually connect, communicate and collaborate with their virtual teams and remote staff

Course Methodology

Delegates will work individually and together through activities, case studies and exercises that reinforce the need to develop virtual working practices. This will equip them to create and run virtual teams, and demonstrate how to engage and motivate remote employees to achieve business results virtually.

Delegates will be able to assess their levels of virtual fluency, recognising development gaps. That assessment is then adopted when managing their virtual team members and remote employees to develop high performing virtual teams.

Delegates will develop the ability to identify the skills and support their virtual teams and remote employees need to excel in the digital workplace.
