The Strategic Management Performance System (SMPS) Boot Camp is an intensive, hands-on interactive education and training designed for professionals to acquire knowledge and build skills in leadership and management of strategy formulation, implementation and evaluation and control.

The Strategic Management Performance System (SMPS) program covers the entire strategic planning and management cycle. The program content is organized to be presented in order of occurrence if you were to "begin at the beginning". A logical path for understanding the required (13) steps unfolds revealing a practical strategic management process; one that is in alignment with the Association for Strategic Planning "Lead-Think-Plan-Act" Body of Knowledge guidance and professional certifications.

The course will help you identify principle developments in the study and practice of strategic management. You will be able to describe the vital role performance management plays in strategy execution and change management, whilst selecting performance measures that matter most.     Doug Maris

    Doug Maris has over 25 years' executive leadership and strategy experience. Doug's vast healthcare experience includes serving as a Senior Director of Business Development for a senior healthcare company where he developed, launched, and led a strategic management system for a large healthcare organization with 2,200 employees and $175 million annual budget. He also served as Executive Director for three large senior living/healthcare communities, responsible for over 600 employees and successful fiscal management of a $10,000,000 + annual operations budget. While serving with a large senior living/healthcare non-profit organization, Doug served as project manager/lead for major corporate-wide change initiatives and projects (including integration to electronic health record platform, centralizing procurement automation and systems, establishing executive team dashboards, creating systems for increasing utilization of rehab service line, and initiating new reporting and metrics systems). Additionally, he wrote and executed the business plan to launch a large pharmacy serving multiple campuses throughout Illinois and generating additional revenues for the company.

    Other healthcare experience includes serving as a six-year member of the Board of Directors for a local hospital, serving on the strategy and ethics committees. He has provided strategy consulting and training services for hospitals, senior living organizations, and aging services associations. He has lectured for healthcare associations including Life Services Network and the LeadingAge PEAK Summit. Doug also has many years' experience assisting non-profit organizations with articulating a strategic and operating plan with a focus on execution and developing key performance metrics. He is a former 6-year Board member with the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital and current second-term member of the Olympia Community Unit School District #16.

    Maris earned his MA and MDiv from Lincoln Christian University. He also earned the Strategic Management Certificate from DePaul University and is a Certified Strategic Management Professional through the Association for Strategic Planning.
